Noble Dictionary

504: A 504 plan is developed for students who have a disability, that do not require special education services. It exists to address the needs of individuals with physical, medical and/or cognitive conditions that directly impact education. Please reach out to your child's teacher with questions about 504 plans.  

 

9 weeks award ceremony-  There are four 9 week grading periods in a school year.  At the end of each 9 weeks, each grade level has an awards ceremony in the cafeteria celebrating those students who earned certificates or awards during that 9 weeks.  If your child received and award during these 9 weeks, you will be notified to attend.  They are typically in the morning soon after drop off.  However, if your child was not selected for an award you will not be notified to attend.  

 

ARD: Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) Committee.  This is a committee of school professionals and the parent who meet annually to evaluate, plan, develop, implement, monitor and re-evaluate the student's IEP. The special education process repeats each year until your child exits special education services. Over time, the broad goal is for your child to close gaps in his performance related to grade-level standards and to work toward post-school goals and ultimately, independence.

BOY/MOY/EOY: Beginning of Year, Middle of Year, End of Year

 

Book Fairs- The school librarian chooses a company (such as Scholastic, Literati, etc) to host a book fair as a fundraiser for the library.  The funds the library raises at the book fairs go towards materials and books for the library.  These books fairs can be done in fall and/or spring and are usually scheduled around another parent event to allow for more shopping times.  Parents are encouraged to volunteer for the book fair!  

 

Champion of the Month- Each month, teachers select one student as their champion of the month for their class.  These students made choices that showed their Panther Pride to be "safe, respectable, responsible, and noble".  Each class at Noble has a champion of the month and those students are recognized on a selected Friday's announcements.  They take a group photo in the cafeteria and each will receive a certificate.  These announcements are typically just for the teachers, staff, and students.   The champions will be recognized with their award at the 9 week awards ceremony too! Parents are invited to join the 9 weeks awards ceremony by invitation only.  If your child received an award, then you will be notified, however, if your child was not selected for an award you will not be notified to attend.

 

Dancing through the Decades- Every elementary in the district participates in their own Dancing Through the Decades.  This event is put on by the specials teachers during each grade level's specials time.  For several weeks before the event, students learn a handful of dances specific to a certain decade during specials.  On the day of the dance, parents are invited to enjoy their hard work and dance with their children!

 

Dress up days- Get your dress up box ready!  Noble staff usually sends out dress up days around holidays or events.  Typically this is the last week or two before Christmas break with things like jingle bell, grinch day, elf day, Santa hats, festive sweaters, red and green, crazy socks, etc. 

 

ESLE: Early Structured Learning Environment

 

Field Day- This is a special event put on by the PE coaches for all of our students.  This event is typically outside at the end of the school year in May.  This is a fun day for students to enjoy their friends and teachers with friendly competitions and relay events.  Parents are welcome to attend and encouraged to volunteer.  

 

FPC "Fighting Panther Club"- This is such a fun tradition the whole district participates in!  The PE departments at every elementary sell t-shirts to raise money for their departments.  These t-shirts allow your child to enter the Liberty Hill High School football game for free and run the football field with their classmates before kickoff.  Each elementary in the district (there are currently 7-- Liberty Hill "The Hill", Bill Burden, Rancho Sienna, Santa Rita, Noble, Bar W, and Tierra Rosa) has a specific Friday night LHHS football game to run the field, so be on the look out for communications for which night Noble is running! Friday Spirit day- Students and staff are encouraged to wear their Liberty Hill/Noble spirit wear gear every Friday.  On Fridays, music greets the students to celebrate the week at school! PTO is selling LNE spirit wear at New to Noble Night 7/31 (for new families to Noble Elementary), Back to School Pool Party 8/1 and 8/2, Meet the Teacher 8/8, First PTO Meeting 9/9.  

 

GT: This stands for "Gifted and Talented". The gifted and talented program at Noble is for qualifying students who with little to no practice are able to master concepts and skills quickly.  There are a million and one gifts and talents out there, however, the GT program is mainly focused on math and literacy.  Each year there are notifications for parent or teacher referrals into the GT program.  

 

IEP: Individualized Education Plan. Once your child is eligible for special education services, the ARD committee decides which services are needed and develops an Individualized Education Program (IEP). The IEP describes the specific services and support your child needs. It is a written plan that guides all the specialized aspects of your child’s instructional day and school experience, and it functions like a contract.  Please reach out to your child's teacher with questions about your child's IEP.  

 

Jingle Bell Run- This is a traditional Liberty Hill PE event near Christmas time during specials.  Students run a designated path outside wearing festive jingle bells.  Parents are encouraged to watch and cheer on their child!  Traditionally there are 5 winners for boys and 5 winners for girls in each grade level.   

 

LSSP: Licensed Specialist in School Psychology

 

LNE: This stands for Louine Noble Elementary sometimes written as LNES (Louine Noble Elementary School)

 

Noble Elementary Champion of the Month: The specials teachers take every class's Champion of the Month and narrow the selection down to 3-4 students.  The principal then chooses one student to be awarded the Noble Champion of the month of the school.  All schools in LHISD subscribe to the Champion of the Month program and if your child was selected as the school-wide Champion, they are then recognized at the board meeting for their hard work.  If your child was the Champion of the Month of the school, you will be notified and invited to attend the LHISD board meeting.  This is a wonderful achievement and students from elementary to high school are so proud to be selected!

 

Panther Paws- Students can earn panther paws from teachers and staff for "being noble"-- being safe, respectable and responsible.  Teachers and their students get to choose how they celebrate earning a specific number of panther paws.  The school sometimes does a reward for a certain number of panther paws the school has earned.  Rewards are things like pajama day, bring a stuffed animal to school, no shoes in the classroom, etc.  If your child's class earned a reward, your child's teacher will communicate to you details.  If the school earned a reward, then this will be communicated through the school's regular channels for communications, Parent Square.   

 

Paraprofessional: Teaching assistant/aide

 

Plastic bags for library books- The librarian sends home plastic bags at the beginning of the year, do not throw this away!  Students keep their library books inside this bag inside their backpacks everyday.  This bag protects our library books from water bottles spilling.  

 

Pre-K- LHISD program for qualifying students.  Not every school in LHISD has Pre-k, only Liberty Hill Elementary, Louine Noble Elementary, Santa Rita Elementary, and Bar W Elementary have Pre-k. Staff Appreciation: Each month, Noble PTO coordinates a treat, snack, coffee bar, drink truck, breakfast, or lunch to show our gratitude for their hard work they do for our kids day in and day out.  If you'd like to help, sign up for a time slot to volunteer!   If you have a business and you would like to donate your money/services/products to a staff event, please reach out to Dede Johnson, our VP of Community Relations at sponsorship@noblepto.org, and she'll get you set up!

Solid Roots: a behavior management system designed to empower students to take responsibility for their own behavior.

 

Tuesday Folders: Your child will get a folder home every Tuesday (Pre-k and Kinder typically have a daily take home folder) with important flyers and school work.  PTO will send our monthly newsletters home in these folders.  

 

W.I.N. Time:  This stands for "Whatever I Need". During this time students are able to get instruction tailored to any area(s) they need more time for skill/concept mastery.  W.I.N. time is a chunk of time on every student's schedule.  If the student has mastered the current skills and concepts, they are able to work on enrichment activities given by the teacher.  

 

Year Books- Noble staff and Noble PTO put together a yearbook that is optional to purchase.  Submit your photos to your child's teacher or send them here with students names and grade levels: yearbook@noblepto.org
